How much does it cost to serve a legal document?
The cost of serving legal documents varies from place to place. We charge $80 (first attempt) if the distance traveled is within 60 Kms (to and fro) and $150 (first attempt) for 100 Kms and above. For up to 3 attempts we charge $150 (within 60 Kms) and $250 (within 100 Kms) respectively.
How much does it cost to file a legal document?
Same, the cost of filing a legal documents at the court varies from place to place. We charge $80 (first attempt) if the distance traveled is within 60 Kms (to and fro) and $120 (first attempt) for 100 Kms and above. For up to 3 attempts we charge $150 (within 60 Kms) and $250 (more than 100 Kms) respectively.
How many attempts is included in the price?

What happens when you don’t succeed in serving the legal document on the respondent?
If we don’t succeed in serving the respondent with the documents on the first attempt, we will try again upon your request. If we don’t succeed in serving the document on the respondent after three attempts, you are advised to go back to court and let them know the process server couldn’t serve the documents on the respondents. The court might grant you an alternative service.
Do you serve anywhere in Canada?
yes, we partner with other process servers across Canada in serving legal documents. That is not an issue.
How do i send my documents to you?
You may send the legal documents by post mail to our office address below or if you have the documents saved on your computer, you may send them by email to info@canadianprocessserver.ca
How do i know the documents have been served?
It is a standard process that once we serve the documents on the respondents or defendant, we always fill out an affidavit of service to proof that the documents was served on the respondent. The affidavit of service will be commissioned by a lawyer or commissioner of taking affidavits. This usually cost us $15-$20 per service.
What is the process for serving a legal document?
If you are just starting or about to serve a legal document. Usually the process is as follows:
- Fill out your form properly
- Get your court number and have it stamped by the court
- Find a process server
- Send the documents to the process server and wait until they serve the document
- If you didn’t pay for court filing, then request the affidavit of service document from the process server.
- Take the affidavit of service to the court that issued the document and file it there
- Wait for the court or respondent responseCongrats! That is it.
I don’t know where the respondent or defendant lives?
If you don’t know where the respondent or defendant lives i.e. they have changed address or skipped. In this case, you need to order a “Skip Trace Search (STS)”- in other to locate the address of the respondent. The charge for this is $150.
Do you offer rush service?
Yes, we do offer rush service or emergency service for an additional $50 (Process Serving or Court Filing).
